Oriana House is Participating in Fugitive Safe Surrender Program

A Fugitive Safe Surrender event will provide an opportunity for people who have outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants (including traffic violations) to voluntarily surrender in a safe manner in exchange for the possibility of favorable consideration on resolving their case.

The event takes place August 7 through August 10 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the House of the Lord Church, 1650 Diagonal Road, Akron, Ohio.

Free legal representation will be available, with attorneys present to provide representation for those who surrender and appear before a judge on-site. This is not an amnesty program.

Fugitive Safe Surrender is a collaboration between several local agencies including Akron Municipal Court; Barberton Municipal Court; Summit County Common Pleas Court General Division and Domestic Relations Courts; and each corresponding Clerk of Courts and Prosecutor’s Office staff. Additional partners working in support of this event include offices of the Summit County Executive, the Summit County Sheriff, the Summit County Legal Defender and the Ohio Attorney General; the Akron Bar Association, Oriana House, and the Akron Police Department.

On-site community resources will be available to help people transition towards a fresh start. In addition, the House of the Lord will be offering daycare for those with children.
